“Coming to Zanzibar means entering a tale out of ‘Arabian Nights’. You may wonder why you ever doubted the existence of Jinnies in bottles – and you may rub your ring in order to free your own…”
Situated at the western coast of Zanzibar, Stone Town holds magic and mystery. Shafts of bright light joust with deep shadows creating a fascinating world within its narrow streets, built for pedestrian traffic. The streets wind between tall buildings, opening unexpectedly into ornamental squares that endow the town with gathering points for local people as well as atmosphere of Arabian Nights charm: a colorful mix of Arab, Indian and African culture. Follow the scents of Jasmine and Ylang Ylang, the flavors of ginger and cinnamon, feel the touch of Henna and Coconut oil, listen to the sounds of Taarab music, admire the Zanzibari doors and chests, taste a cup of real Zanzibari coffee…
From Stone Town, within a maximum of one hour’s drive, every distance on Unguja Island (Zanzibar) can be reached. We suggest you join us on a walk on one of the famous spice farms, where you will see how different spices grow and enjoy a typical Swahili lunch, passing en route by the Harem of Zanzibar’s first independent Sultan, Sayid bin Said. Or make a full day’s excursion to one of the many fishermen’s villages on the East coast, visit a local village house, participate in the fish auction, visit the local Koran school. Follow us into a cave, where ancient local spirits are still worshipped and meet the village medicine man…
You can organize your activities already with us before leaving Hatari or Shu’mata!
